Born the second son to the late Apostle Gus Kilgore Jr., and Co-Pastor Joann Kilgore, in Decatur, Ga., Elder James Kilgore, Sr.'s life would take him down several paths in search of his purpose.
Upon graduating high school, he attended Poly-Southern Technical College, in Marietta, Ga. From there he decided to enlist in the United States Air Force. During his years in the U.S. Air Force he served as a Certified Emergency Medical Technician and was honorably discharged in 1994 after four years of service to his country. He later attended Central Georgia Technical College and received an Air Conditioning Technology Diploma in 2002.
Elder Kilgore has seen the fulfillment of Romans 3:28 in his life - “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to [his] purpose”. Elder Kilgore strongly believes that, “If we stay in His purpose, everything's going to work out for our good. It's a blessing to have purpose and to live to find out what that purpose is. When we understand God has given us all we need to complete that job even when it's hard, when it doesn't feel good and we can't see how it's going to work out for our good, if you are driven by His purpose, it will all work for our good. I'm so glad I found myself. And every since that day, I have and will continue to stay in His will. It's all for my good!” Elder Kilgore has been purposed with tremendous passion for God's Word coupled with a love for God's people.
Called to ministry at the age of 25 at Ressau Chapel Apostolic Holiness Church, in Eatonton, Ga., under the leadership of his father, Elder Kilgore had a passion and fire that would characterize his mission and his ministry; “Train them up in the way they should go!” It is this mantra that has helped to straighten his backbone as he spreads the word of God to youth and families in cities throughout the nation while serving as both Youth Pastor and most recently as Assistant Pastor of New Life Outreach Christian Center. A family oriented man, he has been commissioned and ordained by God to train, teach, raise up and activate the breakthrough anointing in the children, youth, and families. There is a fire in his belly for the young people, especially young men and fathers, to come alive and learn the necessary skills to defeat the enemy regardless of the circumstances surrounding them.
Elder Kilgore's compassion leads him to get out and witness to and disciple those in the church and in the community and get more laborers in the vineyard. “We have to get back to making saving souls the focal point of ministry.” He has committed himself to continuing the legacy and vision of his father for this ministry and that is: Meeting the needs of the total man: financially, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
A s a faithful servant of God, Elder Kilgore yearns to learn more about the God he serves. He is currently enrolled as a student in the Bachelors of Science in Religion Program at Liberty University.
Elder Kilgore has not only committed himself to serving God, and New Life Outreach Christian Center; he has committed himself to serving in his community. As Chaplain for the Putnam County War Eagles, he makes sure the team puts their focus on God getting glory in each and every play of the game. He sets an example for loving Christ and putting Him first and experiencing His favor. He is also the head”pee wee” basketball Coach at Putman County Recreation Department and assistant track coach for Milledgeville Recreation Department. In addition to working in God's vineyard, Elder Kilgore is employed with the Ritz Carlton Lodge in Greensboro, Georgia as a Laundry Manager.
While his accomplishments are many, his greatest joy comes from being married to his lovely wife Tammy Kilgore and being a devoted father to James Jr., Gerald, and Jalon. In addition to his family bringing balance to his life, he thoroughly enjoys hunting, fishing, and basketball. |
